9th RUHR-Symposium

We would like to invite you to the 9th RUHR-Symposium Functional Materials in a Circular Economy.

Date: October 17, 2023, scientific program 8:30–17:30, followed by an open-to-public panel discussion Duisburger Nachhaltigkeitsgespräche in the context of Circular Economy from 18:30-20:30

With the RUHR-Symposium we want to deepen the cooperation between industry and research and create an exchange forum for ideas and innovations in the field of functional materials. Talks are given by experts from academia (UDE, TU Darmstadt, Helmholtz Institute Ulm, Montanuniversität Leoben) and industry (Outokumpu Nirosta, Umicore, Heraeus, ACCUREC-Recycling, Center for Sustainable Use of Waste and Resources) in five different sessions: I. Urban Mining, II. Sustainability of High-Performance Materials, III. Non-ferrous Metals, IV. Functional Battery Materials and V. Rare Earths in Magnetic Materials. The sessions are followed by two excellent keynote talks from Prof. Marzia Traverso (RWTH Aachen University) and Dr. Matthias Weinberg (Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe). Besides the talks enough time for discussion and exchange is reserved.

Following the scientific program, the open-to-public panel discussion Duisburger Nachhaltigkeitsgespräche in the context of Circular Economy is taking place. This part will be carried out in German language, is free of charge, and open to public. This panel discussion is organized in collaboration with Duisburg Business and Innovation (DBI).
