Since BEng, A. Gil Andrade-Campos was a researcher in the LM3 (Laboratoire de Microstructure et Mécanique des Materiaux) of ENSAM, Paris, and invited researcher in LG2M (Université de Bretagne-Sud). Currently, the main fields of research are Computational Mechanics Applied to Engineering and Engineering Optimization at the Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation of the University of Aveiro (TEMA). He is still a collaborator of LIMATB (Laboratory of Materials Engineering of Brittany, University of South-Brittany, France) and of CEMUC (Centre of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Coimbra).

As Assistant Professor in the University of Aveiro, A. Gil Andrade-Campos was responsible for three course subjects and teached in more than eight course subjects. He was also chair of a course subject in the Sustainable Energy Systems Master. A. Gil Andrade-Campos is also a certified trainer and has participated in several courses in the program FADES. He was the International Mobility and ERASMUS Coordinator for the Mechanical Engineering Department for more than 5 years and he also was the pivot of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the Open Week of Science and Technology and for the Summer Academy. Since 2015, he is the programme director of the Master in Sustainable Energy Systems.

A. Gil Andrade-Campos is author of two books, more than three dozens of published scientific articles in international journals with referee, chapters of books and more than fifty articles in conferences of specific scientific field. He is still author of two patents and utility models. He has gain a PhD and post-PhD FCT scholarships and also won scholarships from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He is a recipient of the Young Investigator Prize Prof. João Martins in Computational and Applied Mechanics 2015, the Special prize of the Jury of Scientific prize of ESAFORM 2013 and won a COHITEC program participation prize.

A. Gil Andrade-Campos coordinated three projects financed by the Portuguese Science foundation FCT and participated in more than five research projects. Presently, he supervises PhD and Master students. He has successfully supervised three PhD and more than twenty works of Master and final course projects. He has been member of organizer committees of conferences and symposiums in conferences of the specialty. He was chairman of a NAFEMS International workshop and of the First ECCOMAS Young Investigators Conference on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (YIC2012).  It has participated actively in the organization of events as, for example, the University Summer Academy and the Open Week of Science and Technology. He is effective member of the Portuguese National Engineers Association, the IACM (International Association for Computational Mechanics), the ESAFORM Association and of the LWAG group (Light-weight Armour Group). A. Andrade-Campos is presently member of the ECCOMAS Young Investigator Committee, representing the Portuguese local association APMTAC, and member of the Scientific Committee of the ESAFORM Association (European Scientific Association for Material Forming).
