Dr. Dipl.-Phys. Michael Kues

Dr. Kues is an early-career researcher in the field of photonic quantum technologies. He received his Diploma and Ph.D. in Physics in 2009 and 2013, respectively, from the University of Münster, Germany. Dr. Kues started his integrated quantum optics work in 2014 at the National Scientific Research Institute – Energy, Materials, and Telecommunications (INRS-EMT) in Canada, supported by a Canadian Government Fellowship and a Marie Skłodowska–Curie Individual Fellowship from the European Union. Since 2015, he led the "nonlinear integrated quantum optics" group at INRS-EMT. Developing novel integrated photonic quantum technologies, he is currently at the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Glasgow. Furthermore, he acts as the consultant for the INRS spin-off Ki3 Photonics Technologies Inc.

Dr. Kues is interested in a broad and interdisciplinary range of topics at the intersection of photonics, quantum science, and information processing as well as its applications in industry. In his current activities, he focuses on the realization of on-chip optical quantum systems for practical quantum information processing applications operating in out-of-lab environments.
